The County Dublin Beekeepers Association Honey Show - 2009

Rules and Regulations

  1. Any exhibit may not be entered in more than one class.
  2. A judge may not be an exhibitor in any class in which s/he acts as a judge.
  3. Staging of exhibits will be done by appointed Stewards except in display classes.
  4. The C.D.B.A will inscribe all trophies and retain them.
  5. The C.D.B.A Committee will not be responsible for loss or damage of any nature whatsoever.
  6. The decision of the judge shall be final and there shall be no appeal.
  7. The Committee reserves the right not to award all or any of the prizes in any class. The judge may, at their discretion, award additional prizes if they consider than an exhibit is of sufficient merit.
  8. The prizes in each class are as stated in the Schedule. An exhibitor shall not be entitled to more than one prize in any one class.
  9. A label or other distinguishing mark may not be placed on any exhibit. Numbers should be placed 0.5"/12.5mm from the bottom of the jar and with frames, sections and beeswax, one number should be stuck to the exhibit and the other to the covering. The number will be supplied by the Honey Show Secretary to the exhibitor.
  10. The decision of the Show Committee on any matter relating to the Show (except judging) shall be final.
  11. Entries must be made on the form provided.
  12. All Honey and wax exhibited must be bona-fide produce of the exhibitor's own bees.
  13. Honey Colour B.S.I grading glasses will be used.
  14. Wax may be exhibited polished or unpolished at the discretion of the exhibitor.
  15. Sections must be enclosed in clear transparent wrapping or single section show cases, either square or round, comb shall be visible each side of the case.
  16. Mead must be shown in clear, colourless glass bottles without lettering, fluting or ornamentation of any kind. Bottles must be corked with flanged stoppers which must be removable without the use of mechanical aid.
  17. Photographs may be in black & white or colour. Each entry will consist of a single photograph of 15cm x 20cm (6"x 8"). The subject of the entry must be related to beekeeping topics.
  18. All extracted honey must be exhibited in plain clear glass jars holding 1 lb / 454g, which must be all of one shape in each exhibit.

Caution: An exhibit or any part thereof is not to be removed until the close of the show and then only be with the permission of the stewards. No exhibit may be tasted or in anyway interfered with by the exhibitor or any other person during the show.

Honey Cake Ingredients

6ozs/l75g margarine, 4ozs/110g Irish Honey, 2ozs/50g sugar, 3 eggs (size 3), 6ozs/175g SR flour. Bake in 2"x7" (18cm) circular tin at 350°F/180°C for 25/30 minutes.

Cake filling: Cream together 2ozs/50g margarine, 2 tblsps Irish Honey, 3 ozs/75g icing sugar.
