The Irish National Honey Show - 2009
Rules and Regulations
- Exhibits may not be entered in more than one class.
- A judge may not be an exhibitor in any class in which he acts
as a judge.
- Staging of exhibits will be by appointed stewards except in
display classes
- The winner of a cup may retain it until the commencement of
the Summer Course of the succeeding year, on which date it must
be returned in good order and condition to the Honorary Secretary
of the National Honey Show or the nominee.
- The Federation or Show Committee shall not be responsible for
loss or damage to exhibits.
- The decision of the judges shall be final.
- The committee reserves the right not to be award all or any
of the prizes in any class. If there are only three exhibits or
less only first prize will be awarded, four exhibits first and
second prizes only, but the judges may, in their discretion,
award additional prizes of they consider that an exhibit is of
sufficient merit
- An exhibitor shall not be entitled to more than one prize in
any one class, or in supreme Honey awards.
- Gift exhibits and prize-winning exhibits in classes 16, 19
and 20 become the property of the Show Committee and will be
disposed of at their discretion during the show.
- A label or other distinguishing mark may not be placed on any
exhibit, except in Class 8 and 9 where labels must be affixed to
the exhibits. Numbers should be placed 12.5 mm aprox. from the
bottom of the jar and with Sections and Beeswax, one number
should be stuck to the exhibit and the other to the
covering.
- The decision of the Show Committee on any matter relating to
the show (except judging) shall be final.
- Entries must be made on the form
provided and posted so as to reach the Show Secretary by
13th. Late entries will be accepted up to 12 noon on Tuesday 21st
July (Essay excluded).
- Entries must be placed on the show benches on Tuesday
morning, July 21st before 12 noon. Once an exhibitor has
completed the display he/she may not re-enter the Honey
Show.
- All Honey and Wax exhibited must be the bona-fide produce of
the exhibitor's own bees.
- Honey Colour: B.S.I. grading glasses will be used.
- Wax may be exhibited polished or unpolished at the discretion
of the exhibitor.
- On Thursday 23rd, Trophies and Prizes will be presented to
the winners at 6.30pm. After which the show will open.
- An exhibit may not be removed until after the show closes on
Friday at noon. Removal of exhibits will take place on Friday
between 1.30 p.m. - 2.30 p.m. in the presence of a steward.
- Sections must be enclosed in Section cases. Commercial yellow
cases are acceptable.
- Mead and home made wine must be shown in clear, colourless
punted wine bottles, without lettering, fluting, or ornamentation
of any kind. Bottles must be corked with flanged stoppers, which
must be removable without the use of a corkscrew.
- Extracted honey must be exhibited in plain straight sided,
clean glass, using 454g jars with standard plain gold lacquered
screw top or twist off lids.
- Photographic Class: All exhibits must have been taken, but
not necessarily processed by the entrant. The subject should be
connected with bees or beekeeping. Each exhibit must be suitably
mounted. Finished size maximum A4. Label to be placed on top
right hand corner of mount 12.5 mm. from top right hand
side.
- Poster will be relating to bees or beekeeping. Maximum size
A3.
- Objections: Any protest by an exhibitor must be made in
writing to the General Secretary by 2pm on the Thursday of the
show, for consideration by an Appeals Panel, consisting of the
Judges' Referee and two other Judges who are not otherwise
involved with the objection. The objection must be accompanied by
a deposit of €20. Should the protest be sustained by the
Appeals Panel or be considered reasonable, the deposit will be
returned.
